The criteria – how to crown the world’s best bars
When analysing the world’s best bars, a number of factors are taken into consideration. Licorería Limantour, a legendary cocktail bar in Mexico City, came in at number four on the list and was praised for getting “everything right”.
Everything refers to being “packed every day of the week, with efficient service, on-point drinks and an intoxicating atmosphere”.
However, the bar that took the number one spot at the prestigious awards this year was Paradiso in the host city of Barcelona.
A speakeasy-style bar in the El Born district of the city, it has all the quirky traits of a hipster haunt but is able to even out the hype with top-class cocktails and service.
Tayēr + Elementary in London took the prize for the second-best bar, while Sip in Barcelona came out in third place.
The world’s best bar – Paradiso in Barcelona
Paradiso has taken the number one spot in the list of the world’s best bars. It’s a cool, dimly lit, curved, wood-panelled bar that offers excellent cocktails and mixology classes.
According to the World’s 50 Best, “Once you navigate your way through the false-front entrance through the refrigerator door in a pastrami shop”, you will be served “outrageously innovative drinks by one of the liveliest bar teams in the business”.
While Paradiso was voted the world’s best bar, the USA came out on top as the country with the best bars in the world. New York alone took six of the 50 spots of the world’s best.
