The world’s best airport, as voted by customers, has been revealed by the 2022-2023 World Airport Survey.
Singapore Changi Airport has been voted the best airport by Skytrax’s World Airport Awards. The Singapore airport takes the top spot after being overtaken by Doha Hamad for the last two years.
Singapore Changi is one of the busiest airports in the world and the second-busiest airport in Asia. With a number of incredible features, dining experiences, and retail options available to customers, it’s no wonder it is frequently listed as the world’s best airport.
World’s best airport 2023 – Singapore Changi Airport
As voted by customers, Singapore Changi Airport has been voted the number one airport in the world.
According to Skytrax’s annual survey, “Singapore Changi Airport is one of the busiest passenger hubs for southeast Asia, and is renowned for its unrivalled passenger experiences”.
The award-winning airport offers some of the best amenities for those travelling through, and the dining and retail options are unrivalled.
One of the features it is most famous for is the waterfall, which is the world’s largest indoor waterfall, and the surrounding gardens.
This is something worth seeing before you even enter Singapore. The waterfall features a Rain Vortex light show every hour after 7.30 pm. Changi Airport is also praised for being extremely efficient.

Taking back the top spot – lost its crown during the Covid-19 pandemic
Singapore Changi Airport has been named the best airport in the world for the 12th time. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the airport was crowned the world’s best eight years in a row.
The airport lost its crown in 2021 and 2022 amid the pandemic. Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, took the crown from the Singapore airport for those two years.
Skytrax’s Peter Miller told CNN Travel, “Singapore Changi Airport has always been a perennial favorite with travelers, and of course slipped down during Covid-19 when operations were cut back drastically”.
He continues, “Singapore Changi is primarily a transit airport, and from the customer feedback, the airport performs well because it offers such a wide range of facilities and amenities for all types of customers – families, business and leisure travelers are all well catered for”.
The top ten airports in the world – for the most comfortable travelling experience
The 2022 best airport, Hamad International Airport, drops down to second place for 2023. Doha Hamad has been described as “the most architecturally significant terminal complex in the world, as well as being the most luxurious”.
In third place is Tokyo Haneda International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports. This is followed by Incheon International Airport in South Korea in fourth place and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France.
The top ten then rounds out with Istanbul Airport in sixth place, Munich Airport in seventh place, Zurich Airport in eighth place, Tokyo Narita Aiport in ninth place, and Madrid Barajas in tenth.
